Doha Trade Fair 2012 to be unveiled on 1st January

The Doha Trade Fair 2012, one of the largest shopping carnivals in Doha, will be unveiled on New Year’s Day, and is all set to welcome thousands of visitors throughout the region.


Organized by the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), together with media events, this edition is one of the prime trade shows in the region running from 1st to 10th January, featuring more than 570 exhibition booths from over 29 countries, representing five continents, spreading across 15,000 square metres area.


The venue was 100percent booked even three weeks ahead of the event, the organizers said. The Doha 2012 will be held at the Doha Exhibition Centre, wherein, the visitors will be welcomed by a kaleidoscopic atmosphere marking a festive ambience. Several hundreds of exhibitors will be competing for their attention, as they offer bargain prices on everything from household consumables to cosmetics, fabrics, textiles, food and more.


The DTF 2012 includes a product profile and not on country pavilion basis. The sections will include furniture, home decor, lighting designs, candles, embroiders, bed sheets, duvet covers, toys, computer and electronics gadgets, gift items, perfume and cosmetics, clothes, bags, shoes, accessories, spices, sweets, pickles, and more.


Among the participants are those from Canada, Bangladesh, Egupt, China, India, Hong Kong, Iran, Kenya, Jordan, Italy, Korea, Kuwait, KSA, Malaysia, Lebanon, Oman, Morocco, Philippines, Pakistan, Syria, Thailand, Singapore, Qatar, Tunisia, Turkey, United States, the UAE and Yemen.


While adults are busy with bargain shopping, kids can use the opportunity to move around in 2000 square metres area featuring inflatables, family of mascots, face painting and parade. The parade will perform four shows daily, beginning 2pm, and will include a fire show and a barrel show.


The Doha Trade Fair is a highly anticipated event benefitting both tourism and business sectors in the country, making Qatar a premier business and tourism hub in the region, said Ahmed al-Nuaimi, Chairman of Qatar Tourism Authority. The event also complements the domestic and regional strategy of QTA, to introduce exciting and interactive activities to Qatar.
