Work on Single workers’ housing units to begin soon

The foundation stone will be laid this week for construction of 43,000 housing units by Barwa, for accommodation of single workers, revealed Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz Turki al-Sobaei, Barwa Chief Executive Officer.


The major project will be a self-contained township away from family residential areas, with all standard health and recreational amenities. Speaking to the media, the Barwa CEO mentioned that the focus now, is on augmenting the capital, reducing lending, and lowering the cost on financing of projects.


Further, Barwa has put implementation of projects on fast-track, to strengthen financial position. The Commercial Street in Salwa, the Sadd Towers, and Barwa Township are the three main projects that are completed.


In the earlier project, Barwa handed over 4500 apartments from a total 6000. Meanwhile, Qatar Airways has offered to purchase half the number of apartments in the Barwa Township, although it is yet to be finalized.
