New innovative electronic service to simplify visa formalities

With a new innovative electronic service issued by the Ministry yesterday, issuing of exit permits and 42 other key Interior ministry services, including renewal and issue of visas are now made easier.


A Qatari sponsor holding a smart phone, and if registered for the new service (Metrash2) by the Interior Ministry, is eligible to issue an exit permit for his foreign employee in Qatar, from anywhere in the world, within seconds.


To register for Metraash2, it is necessary to possess a smart-phone and provide his Qtel—Ooredoo—mobile number using a smart ID card, which can be purchased for QR100 from the Immigration Department at Al Gharafa, or any of the service centres of the Interior Ministry.


Those keen to use the e-gate service at Doha International Airport can get the card for an annual fee of QR100, QR150 for two years and QR200 for three years.


Metrash2 registrations can also be done through self-service kiosks installed at 10 locations in Doha and outside, including the Landmark Shopping Mall, Qatar Post Headquarters, Royal Plaza, Villaggio Mall, Lulu Hypermarket, passport department at the airport, Al Meera (Al Wakra), Traffic Department, the Museum of Islamic Art and Qatar Foundation.


During a briefing about the Metrash2 services, by the Information Systems Department of the Interior ministry, the Head of Visa section, Col. Al Malki said that with the new service, one can avail ministry’s services from home or office. So far, more than 6000 people have registered for the service, and more than 12000 exit permits have already been issued through the service, with majority of users being companies.


Metrash2 enables issuance of exit permits for those under personal and company sponsorships, and for ‘visit visa’ holders under personal and company sponsorships. Further, renewal of residence permits under personal and corporate sponsorships, cancellation of residence permits, changing entries in passport of expatriates and separation of dependant names from expatriate passports can be availed using Metrash2.


Among the other services are, renewal of driver’s license, issuance of replacement for lost driver’s license, vehicle permit, exit permits for vehicles, transfer of vehicle ownership, transfer of easy-to-remember number plates, issuance of vehicle clearance certificate, certificate of cancelled vehicles, certificate of exported vehicles, and certificate of pre-owned vehicles.


Metrash2 also enables to view registered traffic violation and payment of fines for violations. Visit visa services follow-ups and approval can be done using Metrash2, Further, enquiries about status of visa application, visa validity, visa fee, violation of visa rules, fine for delayed arrival, extension of visa validity, renewal of a visa which has lapsed, and payment of visa fee.


Besides Metrash2, user can locate the nearest service centres of the Interior of Ministry on his smart phone and can communicate with the Ministry through this service.
