The pins, the Shoe, Bow Ties are all installed in various locations within the mall, while The Acrobats, the Golden Rings, Wall of Egrets and Footballs are in the installation phase.
According to Rony Mourani, General Manager, Mall of Qatar, the mall is more of an entertainment destination venue that charms visitors in a multitude of ways, and these art works form part of the mall’s infrastructure, which is a proof to the company’s commitment to provide a stunning visual experience from all angles, down to smallest details.
Comprising of 12 different materials, every artwork is a standalone masterpiece. At the main entrance on the west wall is the Wall of Egrets that comprises nine Egrets portraying the internally illuminated birds, as they take off from the group flying up a cascading wall of water.
The main entrance comprises seven inner hoops and you can find Rings at the main entrance of the building with gold brush coating placed offset from the centre, and which will be hung from the atrium glass roof.
Inside the mall is the Bow Ties, which draws inspiration from the necktie worn by men for formal events, and they are installed in the first of three centric domes of the mall. The second dome housed the Pins, a sculpture which is reminiscent of a pincushion used by tailors in measuring and sewing. The shoe, which is one of the most beloved pieces of women’s fashion, will be displayed in the third dome.
The family entertainment area will see visitors, The Acrobats, human figures in the form of a tightrope walker, a unicyclist, a trapeze artist, a person balancing on a ball, an aerial silk performer, a colourful playful sculpture, the Footballs, all of which, pays homage to Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup, and also adorns the Mall’s domes.
The Mall of Qatar spans 500,000 sqm in area and features top-notch recreation and leisure options. It will premiere the world’s first resident troupe offering mall-wide entertainment featuring 52 weeks of spectacular shows on a 360 degree custom made revolving stage and a multilevel Family Entertainment Complex.
