Qatar welcomes first day of Eid with fun-filled activities and fireworks display

A range of colourful events and fun-filled activities have been lined-up for visitors and residents across Qatar on the first day of Eid Al Adha festivities.

Organized by the Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), the events are held under the theme ‘Capture Joy’, and they have kick-started at various places including shopping malls, sporting facilities, cultural landmarks and Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC). Entertainment shows were held at various malls for charming people of all walks of life, a majority of them being families.

There was a spectacular display of fireworks at Katara too, with some popular tales being tailormade specifically for Qatari audience.

‘Tarzan: King of the Jungle’ was staged at the City Centre Mall, while other stories like ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘Flying Super Kids’, ‘Alvin and Chipmunks’, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and ‘Sinbad the Sailor’ enthralled audiences at other places.

The QTA Director of Tourism Events and Festivals, Mashal Shahbik, in his statement mentioned that the authority is delighted to invite both visitors and families returning to Qatar before the start of the school year to capture joy with this year’s Eid celebrations. This year, in particular has been exciting with renewed partnership with Baraem TV, as they brought the children’s musical ‘Fafa Saves the Forest’ to Qatar National Convention Centre’s main theatre.

In the past few weeks, ticket sales around the region have shown an increase, and the nation is a major attraction for families from across the GCC. Visitors and residents get to enjoy Eid celebrations at multiple locations across the country during this time of the year, including Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani Museum, Al Samariyah Equestrian Centre, Aspire Zone, Aqua Park, Katara Cultural Village, The Pearl Qatar, Souq Waqif, Al Dossari Zoo & Game Reserve, Shahbik said.
