Hamad International Airport (HIA) opened North Node to operations early this year, meeting high passenger demand for more flights, and this makes HIA one of the fastest growing international hub airports in the world.
Every passenger train has five carriages, designed to accommodate 38 passengers per carriage. This permits each train to transport nearly 190 passengers at a time.
The passenger trains will operate simultaneously in a synchronised manner, with the train system remaining operational 24 hours a day. Every trip between the stations takes 90 seconds, with 44 second waiting at each station. Approximate walking time for the same distance is nine minutes.
Al-Meer, while speaking on this, said the latest services at the airport is being introduced with the support of Transport Ministry and New Doha International Airport Steering Committee.
This is another step towards commitment of offering passengers an effortless journey through airport. This new service will also facilitate smooth handling of increasing passenger numbers at terminal, he said.
