Qatar Airways launches worlds longest flight

Qatar Airways has launched world’s longest scheduled commercial service. Its debut flight took off from Doha to Auckland, eight minutes early, on Sunday.
The Flight QR920 left Qatari capital at 05:02 (local time) and is likely to land in New Zealand at 7.30 (local time).

Boeing 777 flight will take 16 hours and 20 minutes to pass across 10 time zones, five countries and travel 14,535kms before reaching Auckland.
The return flight, however, will take 17 hours and 30 minutes as it has to pass through high-altitude winds.

All this will make the world’s longest passenger service in terms of flying time.
Qatar Airways is yet to reveal the number of passengers who travelled on Sunday, but there are four pilots and 15 crew on the plane.

According to estimates in March, Emirates airline launched world’s longest non-stop scheduled commercial flight, with a service from Dubai to Auckland, spanning 14,200kms.
