Qatar Summer Festival 2017 draws impressive visitor numbers

Qatar Summer Festival (QSF), the fourth edition of which was launched recently, continues to draw visitors in huge numbers through various participating malls and other venues, with a line-up of shows for families.

The Entertainment City at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre serves as the main festival venue, which saw various visitors availing dozens of games catering to various age groups, apart from live entertainment, food stalls and pop-up shops.
The Director of Festivals and Tourism Events at Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA), Mashal Shahbik said that with crowds enjoying summer excitement this year, Qatar Summer Festival is off with a great colourful start.

Landmark Mall, Al Khor Mall, Lagoons Mall, The Mall and Gulf Mall, apart from the new Doha Festival City and Mall of Qatar are all witness to huge crowds on the second day of Eid. People were seen enjoying roaming and stage shows for free in these shopping malls.

Several people also flocked to outdoor venues like Souq Waqif, Al Wakra Souq, Katara, and Aspire Park where Eid celebrations are held.

The fun continues today with a special event at Doha Festival City, due to open to visitors and residents. The event will begin at 4.30pm and will include a parade throughout the mall, followed by African Drummer’s performance, an ‘Ardha dance’ and ‘Ice Age Show’, concluding with a concert by the Qatar Singer, Saoud Jassim at 9pm.

According to Shahbik, QTA, with is constant efforts by working closely with public and private sectors, continues to keep the tourism sector of Qatar in high spirits. Such nationwide festivities have been possibly due to the support of the retail, hospitality and entertainment sectors.

He further said that the collaborative spirit shown by private and public sector partners indicate that Qatar can continue to grow and maintain a thriving tourism sector.
