First-of-its-kind Red Street opened
The Private Engineering Office has opened the first-of-its-kind red street, located within the boundaries of Al Bida Park, and stretches from Qatar National Theatre to the Emiri Diwan Roundabout.
The opening of the street, which is covered with red asphalt, forms part of the Al Bida project, being done under supervision of Private Engineering Office, and will open by the year-end.
The street can be controlled by automated roadblocks that can close when required, so as to turn it into a pedestrian-only road, or it can be closed during important events like Qatar National Day and Sports Day and other global events like World Cup, particularly as the park is one of the main areas to be allocated as a fan zone during the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The street overlooks the main celebration platform on the Doha Corniche. Al Bida Park extends over an area of 2mn sqm and is among the largest parks in the region. It also includes several public service amenities, and underground parking spaces for nearly 6000 cars.
The park also features large gymnasiums, including one for women, apart from outdoor exercise equipment, open-air playgrounds, sports ground, open theatre for 850 spectators, bicycling tracks, horse and camel tracks, water areas and other recreational and service facilities.
