Square Mall, a new commercial and retail development centre, located in the Al Thumama area has been formally unveiled yesterday in Qatar, in the presence of several dignitaries and residents.

Covering an area of 25,000 sqm, the mall is located along the stretch between Najma Street intersection and the bridge across Doha-industrial Road. The new commercial complex is the ‘first of its kind’ in the area, and the retail space accounts for more than 13,500 sqm.

The complex has 44 retail outlets, including a supermarket operated by the Spar Group, said the promoters of the mall said. They emphasized that the new mall is ‘one of a kind’ in Doha, with more than 40 percent of the total space being devoted to entertainment and recreational activities.

The complex houses five-screen multiplex, run by Roxy Cinemas, besides about eight eateries that include familiar brands in the dining business. After the inauguration, the guests were taken on a tour along the mall premises.

Among those present in the opening ceremony were Chairman of Al Bandary Real Estate, Mohamed Abdul Latif al-Mana, Chief Operating Officer of Salam Group Abdul Salam Abu Issa and Spar Group Chairman, Ehsan al-Kheyami, among others.

In the coming years, the area around the mall will see more influx of people in the coming years with several new independent houses being built in the immediate vicinity of the shopping centre. Further, a new bridge is being built near the Thumama World Cup stadium along Al Quds Street, off E-Ring Road and going across F-Ring Road, which will ease access to the mall.
