Achievements of Ashghal hailed

Ashghal (Public Works Authority in Qatar) has been highly appreciated for the hard work that has been put in, towards developing the infrastructure in the country. Ashghal has worked on projects, worth QR18bn, till date.

The Chief Executive Officer of Ashghal, Zayed Mansour Al-Khayarin, said that about more than 500 projects are currently in progress throughout the state. Al-Khayarin, who is also a member of the board mentioned that despite the tough conditions that the state has gone through, due to scarcity of raw materials, contractors and consultants in undertaking projects, Ashghal, within three-years since its inception, has achieved excellent results.

Al-Khayarin continued “The authorities have given top priority to the infrastructure sector, and has set aside a good amount for the state budget. Although, improving the infrastructure of the state was a difficult job, we are confident that through skilful administration and with technical hands, we have the strong aspiration, determination and competency to fulfill this complex task to the best of our ability.”

Khayarin said, the successful hosting of the 2006 Asian Games is still echoing throughout the world. Apart from motivating local companies to take part in the re-construction process, Ashghal has won contracts worth QR7bn, which enables them to compete with international companies so as to undertake giant projects. This is no doubt, an achievement for Ashghal.

Khayarin also said that Ashghal aims to recruit, train and develop the competencies of nationals, by offering various training programmes.
