Low-rent houses of Barwa to be allotted in June
A senior official of Barwa Real Estate Company has revealed that the allotment of their low-rent housing units is likely to take place in June or July this year.
The delay in allotment of houses was due to the problems faced in completing infrastructural works in the newly-constructed housing complexes, said Saad Ghanim Al Ghanim, the Chairman of Barwa, when speaking during the Annual General Meeting of the Company, last week.
The Company had initially announced that the houses would be handed over to tenants during April or May this year.
“The building is ready, but infrastructure works like roads, water and electricity needs to be completed. Hence, the houses will be allotted to families on or before June this year, and will be handed over during July and August,” said Saad Ghanim.
He continued that the first phase of the project which includes 2000 units is complete and the work on the second phase will commence in two to three months.
The company has granted approval to about 180 Qataris so far, and is waiting for the others to complete the necessary formalities.
About 11,000 people with 70 different nationalities have applied for the houses. A special Committee has been set up by the company to supervise the selection process for Qatari and non-Qatari applicants.
