Doha likely to see 22 new hotels in four years

The Qatar Tourism Authority has announced that a total of 22 new hotels will be opened within next four years.

Qatar is expecting to invest $100bn in infrastructure and investment projects from Hilton, Hyatt, Four Seasons, Inter-Continental and other multinational hotel corporations, expected to be complete by 2012.

Towards the year 2016, more than 80,000 rooms are expected to be ready, well ahead of the International Olympic Committee's decision of conducting the 2016 games with Doha playing the host city. The decision will be announced next year.

The Chairman of Doha 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games Bid, Hassan Ali bin Ali, agreed that he was 'immensely pleased' by the growth of Qatar hospitality sectors, and added that now the country will be a more attractive destination for business, sports and tourism.

As per the survey conducted by Deloitte, the Middle East hotel industry is one of the fastest-growing hospitality sectors in the world. The revenues-per-room increased by 17 percent last year, which exceeds the revenues of both Europe and Asia-Pacific, depicting a promising outlook in the near future.

Qatar, being the most exciting countries to visit in Middle East, owns a rich culture and vibrant history. The visitors to Qatar have wonderful opportunities to explore with the natural environment, desert safaris, ancient monuments, beaches and pools and quite a few international sporting competitions, that Qatar holds annually, said bin Ali.
