New Four-Star to come up in Qatar

Taking advantage of the economic boom and surge in tourism in Qatar, a new four-star hotel is likely to be inaugurated in March next year.

The hotel, named Swiss-Belhotel International Doha, Suites and Residences is likely to be located five minutes away from the airport in-between the old city center and the banking district. The Corniche is just a five minutes walk away from the hotel. Abdullah Al Majid Establishment will be the owner of the property and the Hong-Kong based Swiss-Belhotel International has been awarded the management contract.

The property will be constructed based on a twin tower concept with seventeen floors constructed on a podium which will comprise shops selling reputed brands. The hotel will consist of 185 rooms, specialty restaurants and executive lounges. Badih and Kantar of Beirut has designed the property.

The hotel also comprises a swimming pool, basement parking, fitness facilities, 300 sq.mt. ballroom, and a business center. President of Swiss-Belhotel, Gavin M. Faul said "We are on the fast track in the Middle East, China and India. In two years we expect to have fifty hotels and 6000 rooms. As of now we have eighteen hotels worldwide, accounting 4000 rooms."

He said, though new to the Middle East, the Hong Kong company shares progressive and innovative ideas and is a "fresh" brand.

Other recent projects by the company includes a hotel in Kuwait, a resort in Sharjah, a new property in Dubai, and a resort/spa in Saudi Arabia facing the Red Sea. Swiss-Belhotel has also undertaken property managements in China, Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia.
