Qatar Airways increases weekly frequencies to Bahrain

Qatar Airways has announced an increase in its weekly frequencies to Bahrain, with the addition of five more flights beginning 1st June, with the total connecting flights between the two countries touching 47 in number.

The newly introduced early evening departures of the airline’s global network covers Africa, Middle East, Far East, Europe, the subcontinent and North America.

The Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Airways, Akbar al-Baker, said “The addition of five new flights every week increases the Doha-Manama frequency to 47 from 42 flights per week, and makes sure that the route only goes from strength to strength. We operate six flights a day between Doha and Manama, and now, with the new evening departures, Qatar Airways offers customers greater choice and excellent range of connecting to destinations around the world.”

Al Baker was speaking during the Bahrain International Travel Expo (BITE), wherein Qatar Airways was the Gold Sponsor. Speaking about the aggressive expansion plans of the airline during the next couple of years, he emphasized orders for more than 200 aircraft worth $30bn. He also spoke about the progress of construction of New Doha International Airport, which is due to be open in 2010.

Qatar Airways, which is the national carrier of Qatar, currently operates a modern fleet of Boeing and Airbus aircraft to 82 cities throughout the world, and the figure is expected to rise steeply over the next decade.
