First indoor football dome in Middle East likely in Qatar
Qatar plans to build a modern extreme sports complex, and the first indoor football dome in the Middle East, and several other new facilities, in view of the upcoming Olympics, revealed the Chairman of Doha 2016 Bid Committee.
Speaking to the press, Hassan Ali bin Ali said Qatar’s enviable sports infrastructure will undergo a major boost, with the further planned developments at the Aspire Sports City, Qatar Sports Club and Al Gharafa.
The extreme sports complex will be located at Aspire, and will be inclusive of a water park, a slalom facility for kayaking and canoeing, and two major Olympic disciplines.
According to Ali bin Ali, the new facilities are part of the Qatar Olympic Committee’s (QOC) ‘Master Plan for Venue Development’, keeping in mind, the long-term needs of the community.
The other amenities planned include a new swimming center at Al Gharafa Club, a ‘Qatar Dome’ at the Qatar Sports Club, a multi-purpose sports complex at the Shaffallah Center meant for Children with special needs, a Media Village and an Athletes Village.
