Doha skyline adorned by a new iconic project Tornado Tower
A new landmark building, namely the Tornado Tower has been unveiled in Doha by Qatar Investment Projects and Development Holding Company (QIPCO Holding) yesterday.
The tornado-inspired office tower comprises 52 storeys and is on its way to completion at the West Bay. The iconic structure is expected to be ready by November.
According to officials, this unique iconic tower will turn out to be the landmark of the city’s skyline. Apart from the unique design by Munich-based architects SIAT Robinson Pourroy, the outer steel structure of the tower has been further highlighted by a special lighting system, specially designed for the tower by Thomas Emde, renowned light artist. The whirl-wind design draws inspiration from the beautiful symmetry of a swirling desert tornado.
The system is so programmed that it is likely to produce more than 35000 various lighting combinations, thereby making it one of the landmark structures in the city and offers an eye-catching view, particularly at night.
Standing high at 210meters and spreading across 58,029 Square Meters of area, the tower incorporates high quality rentable commercial office accommodation, including three basements with parking capacity for 1700 cars.
The tower is inclusive of various other modern smart systems such as 16 high-speed passenger elevators, apart from a VIP lift, a media belt in the lobby that constantly updates business and financial news from around the world, sophisticated building management systems, hi-tech access control systems to allow round-the-clock entry into the building, and a helipad placed at 51st floor for VIP entry and emergencies.
Among the other amenities in the tower are, the range of outlets providing other services such as a high-end restaurant, exclusive health club, and a dedicated concierge service for all residents of the building.
According to the QIPCO Chairman and CEO, Sheikh Hamad, the development has been so planned that it would be the ideal place to work as well as relax.
The exact cost of the building, although highly expensive, is yet to be revealed.
