22 new parks likely in Qatar

It has been disclosed during a recent meeting held at the Central Municipal Council (CMC) that Qatar has embarked on a plan to build 22 new parks in various parts of the country.

The meeting which involved the participation of all CMC members and representatives from the Public Works Development Authority in Qatar (Ashghal), the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Agriculture (MMAA), the Urban Planning and Development General Authority (UPDA) and the Group Consulting Office (GCO), discussed issues about public parks.

Mahmoud Kyton of the GCO revealed that GCO will set up nearly 22 parks in various parts of the country. Among these, six parks will be built in the Doha Municipality, four in Dhayen Municipality, two in Al Rayan, and one each in Al Gharafa and Al Shahaniya. Six other parks have been planned for Al Rayan Municipality, which is still under discussions.

This decision which resulted in shifting of the Towns Beatification Section from Ashghal to MMAA, will immensely held in improving the condition of parks in the country, said Yusuf Al Kulaifi, MMAA Public Parks Department.
