Qatar Airways introduces non-stop flights to Kozhikode

Qatar Airways has launched non-stop flights from Doha to Kozhikode, a district in the South Indian State, Kerala.

The first flight of Qatar Airways, QR284, arrived at Kozhikode International Airport, yesterday morning.

With the launch of new route, Qatar Airways will have a fleet of 58 per week, spreading across nine Indian cities, including Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi, Nagpur and Ahmedabad. The airline is considering possibilities of further expansion in the high-traffic Indian markets, with additional flights being planned to Bangalore and Kolkatta.

The CEO of Qatar Airways, Al Baker, when speaking about the arrival of first flight to Kozhikode International Airport, mentioned that following the success of three route launches to India during the past year, this latest addition indicates the commitment that the airline has towards people of India, and to people of Kerala.

He added that Qatar Airways is planning more opportunities in India and is looking forward to open further routes in the country. India is the largest single market for Qatar Airways with the nine cities representing more than 10% of global network of 83 international routes.

The expatriate Keralites living and working in the Gulf, as well as tourists from across the globe are likely to find the new route appealing.

Kozhikode is the second route launch of the airline in 2008, following the launch of non-stop flights between Doha and Guanghzhou in southern China during March.
