Ashghal builds 16 new schools in Qatar

The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) recently constructed 16 new schools at a total cost of QR620mn, in Doha and outskirts.

The newly-built schools would be delivered to concerned authorities prior to commencement of academic year 2008-09, on completion of the remaining work.

Every new school building will have 25 classrooms, nine air-conditioned multipurpose halls, five laboratories, sports hall, security rooms, landscaping, yard, parking and boundary wall, shaded structures and external services infrastructure. The multipurpose hall and assembly halls will be covered with framed roof structure.

The authority is constructing single storey Kindergarten buildings on the inside and outskirts of Doha, which includes six to twelve classrooms, library, video room, multipurpose hall, teacher’s room, administrative office, store room, toilets, reception, and landscaping.

Being a part of the five-year plan by Ashghal, it aims to build 100 schools across the country, and about 50 or more schools have been already completed and handed over to Ministry of Education.
