UPDA embarks on land survey to meet housing requirements of nationals
The Urban Planning Development Authority (UPDA) has embarked on a survey to analyze the land requirement by the state for nationals in the near future. The Survey is being carried out as a part of ongoing planned city developments in satellite townships in Qatar.
As a part of this plan, UPDA has earmarked several private plots which it plans to acquire for completion of projects. The affected owners will be provided with either monetary compensation or an alternative land. The UPDA is also searching for new sites to build government offices.
According to the Director General of Land Affairs, UPDA, Ali bin Ahmad Al Kaabi, once the land for housing projects have been identified, measures would be taken immediately to handover them to the beneficiaries.
Al Kaabi, revealed that UPDA has established a Central Committee to deal with the complaints of land owners’ regarding expropriation of their lands. The land department will study the actual demand for lands required by nationals for their housing. It will then co-ordinate with the UPDA and announce the land identified for expropriation.
So far, the land department has allocated 9649 housing plots to nationals. The maximum number of plots has been allocated at Rawdat Al Hamamah. Another 1307 plots have been allotted at Al Wadi, 1032 at Muaither, 748 at Wakra, 916 at Rayyan, 11 at Al Kharib, 729 at Um Saneem, and 62 at Shahaniyya have all been earmarked as housing plots for nationals.
UPDA has formed two committees to assess the values of the land. While one committee evaluates the land values in Doha, another will assess the land values outside the city.
