Qatar Airways announces online check-in services

Qatar Airways has announced online check-in services for its passengers across all classes of travel, for all flights departing Doha International Airport. The facility, which is available throughout the airlines network, will be rolled out in phases.

According to airline officials, the online check-in will banish the long queue at the airport, and passengers availing this service can choose their seats on producing a printout of their boarding passes. The passengers can check in at any time from 2 to 36 hours prior to departure, and the service can be accessed by logging on to qatarairways.com.

The passengers with only a carry-on baggage can go straight through the gate after passing immigration. However, those with baggage need to check in and go to the ‘Fast Bag Drop’ counters, wherein the boarding pass will be scanned and baggage tags will be issued.

Speaking about this new service, the airline official says that this forms a part of series of new measures introduced over the next few weeks to fasten check-in procedures for benefit of passengers. The online check-in will go a long way in reducing congestion at the airport, particularly during late-night, when several flights take-off, particularly to the Indian subcontinent.

As for the Advance Passenger Information (API), suggested by governments of various countries, the airline clarified that this information would be provided only to the Customs and Immigration Authority of that particular country. As few governments require direct access to airline passenger bookings (PNRs), it is vital that the passenger provide accurate information to minimize delays in carrying out the immigration processes after arriving the destination countries.
