Family-oriented mall Wathnan ready to be unveiled next year
With about 75 percent of the work already complete, Wathnan, the only family-oriented mall in Doha, is ready to welcome the public in the first quarter of next year.
Work is on in full progress on the site, and the workers are busy clearing up the building to begin decoration work.
The project manager of the mall said, that Wathnan would be the first family-oriented mall wherein families can shop for the whole year and not just on dedicated days, and the demand for such a mall is high.
Comprising three storeys, the mall is located in the Muaither area, just behind the Horse Race Track, and features 110 stores, several food outlets, large food court, and cafes. Built across 41,000 square meters of land, Wathnan will have three main entrances, three service doorways and 16 elevators and 6 escalators. The two level basements have the capacity to accommodate 680 cars.
The Site Manager, Abdul Samad Azad, said that more daylight in the mall will give parts of it an outdoor feel. A large playground for children equipped with latest games has also been set up, and the developers are putting more effort in making the mall a pleasant shopping experience for families.
The International Works Development Group is the main contractor f the project. Several retailers such as Tasmeem, Qatar Optics, Al Jaber Watches, Quatro and Versailles have confirmed that they would open outlets in the mall. The concept of the mall is particularly appealing to retailers specializing in luxury items such as perfumes, jewelry and watches.
