Qatar expected to witness a retail boom

Despite the fact that many people have left Qatar for their summer vacation, Qatar is witnessing an ongoing retail boom.

Studies conducted by LOGO business solutions, leading software provider in Middle East, revealed that shoppers in Qatar have spent about QR500m at retail outlets during the first two months of summer. The retail sales are expected to average about QR2bn per year in Qatar.

The LOGO Chief Executive Officer, Ali Guven, said "International brands are drawing customers in large numbers leading to an increase in retail sales. Even the retailers have developed new techniques for selling their products."

The studies reveal that about 300,000 shopping trips were made during a ten-week period. Though, Qatar still has a long way to go before catching up with UAE and Dubai, the retail shoppers in Qatar have made a good start. With more number of luxury and international brands making their entry into Qatar, and with the entry of major shopping malls in country, like Landmark, Hyatt Plaza, City Center, and Villagio, people will be spoilt for choice.
