Easing rents bring down Qatar inflation
House rents in Doha have dropped by as much as 17 percent since the beginning of the year, with the overall inflation rate easing, although food has become dearer with the prices of vegetables, fish and eggs getting marginally expensive, The Peninsula reports.
Being the largest contributor to inflationary pressures, rents have dropped by 17 percent, with 0.8 percent drop in July, when the maximum decline was witnessed, particularly for apartment rents, as reported by the Qatar Statistics Authority (QSA).
The airfares for economy classes have also dropped down since July. Although in June there was an increase noticed due to summer rush, the fares were down by almost 10.5percent in July, and further 7.8 percent last month.
The overall Consumer Price Index has decreased by 0.3 percent in July and another 0.8 percent last month, which reflects the ease in cost of living.
