800 sustainable building projects to be ready by 2012

The Seventh International Exhibition for Construction Technology, Building Materials, Equipment and Environmental Technology will emphasize on the second edition of Qatar Sustainability Conference (QSC 2010).

QSC 2010 is an educative and innovative platform hosting experts from construction sector to address sensitive green issues. The topics include discussion of crucial matters such as recycling, efficient use of water and renewable building materials, apart from sharing the innovations and challenges faced by the industry.


The Project Qatar 2010 is due to be held between the 12th and 15th April at the Doha Exhibition Center (DEC) and is hoped to attract major players in the industry, apart from regional and international VIPs.


During the last decade, Qatar has seen considerable boom in the construction sector, with several high-rises being built in its pure desert sands. The sector is currently undergoing a total of 800 building projects that are due to be ready by 2012. But, all these projects will be environment-friendly and will adhere to guidelines by Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC).


Moreover, QGBC will be the center for development of sustainable construction solutions. Work has already begun in this direction, and several of the existing facilities too are being modified to conform to sustainable standards.
