Second Phase of Gondolania Theme Park unveiled at Villagio
The second phase of Gondolania Theme Park at Villagio was unveiled yesterday, with the launch of a 4D Cinema and bowling alley, among other amenities.
The theme park, stretching 25,000sqm, was unveiled in December, but, this week saw the official completion of 12-lane bowling alley and opening of a 20-seater “4D” cinema, and inclusion of party room facilities with the capacity for 300 people.
The “4D” cinema combines 3D imagery on screen, with special effects applied to viewers’ seats. The audience get to enjoy the fourth dimension through a mix of vibration, water spray, air blasts and neck tickling, for a complete thrilling experience.
An official who spoke about 4D Cinema said that for instance, as jelly fish swims by in 3D, the audience can also feel its tingling tentacles brushing along their arms, creating a more real impact.
Designed by Westech Zurich, the Cinema will show eight films on a weekly rotation basis. The bowling alley, designed by Pininfarina, the Italian designer for Maserati and Ferrari, it offers customers another new experience at Gondolania.
The Chief Executive of Funfair Company, Michel Koborsi, which manages the theme park, said that park has been more successful than initially expected with about 16,000 patrons a day on weekends.
A “5D” experience is now expected at the Park in near future, with films enabling audience members to interact with what is seen on-screen.
