World Trade Centre Tower to be ready by 2012 at West Bay
A new 50-storey commercial and recreational tower will be built in West Bay within two years, announced Sheikh Nasser bin Ali al-Thani, Chairman of Qatar General Insurance & Reinsurance Company (QGIRCO).
The project, titled World Trade Centre Tower, worth QR520mn will be ready by summer of 2012.
The tower, with a total built-up area of 141,760sq.m will have a four-level basement parking facility for more than 1,100 cars. The car parking areas will be accessible through two separate ramps – one linear and other spiral car park lift, and 2x2 way escalators. It will also comprise a fire exit staircase.
The complex podium will begin at the ground level, stretching until the third floor. A two-level cylindrical shaped auditorium, with a capacity to accommodate 523 people will be one among the major attractions of the facility. The stage within the auditorium will feature a piano lift platform and a back-panel partition for stage extension.
Besides the auditorium, the other main attractions of the podium are an exhibition-convention hall on the first floor, lobbies, coffee shops, and a convention plaza.
The six-storey tower of the complex will comprise an auditorium, five levels of office-spaces with a built-up area of 2,690sqm, a proposed link from the tower to the third floor podium, all of which, will serve as access from the tower building.
The tower comprises offices, recreational and technical floors, low-rise lifts, medium-rise lifts and high-rise lifts, and sky-rise lifts.
One of the main attractions of the tower will be the 43 levels of office floors from the 4th to the 46th, two recreational floors on the 47th and 48th floors, which will serve as executive clubs, two technical floors on the 49th and 50th storeys.
Sheikh Nasser exchanged documents with the Chairman of Arabtec, Riad Kamal, after signing construction contract of the project. Arabtec is implementing the project, while M Z Partners and Projacs are the design and project consultants.
