Barwa announces handover of low-rent housing units
Barwa has begun delivery of its low-rent housing units in Al Saliyah to tenants.
There are a total of 992 residential units in two blocks in Mesaken Saliyah that are ready for occupation. The first few tenants have already signed their contracts yesterday in the presence of Barwa officials.
Mesaken Saliyah is the second phase of a project launched by Barwa, offering affordable housing units to both nationals and expatriates. The two and three bedroom apartments are offered at monthly rentals of QR3000 QR3,500 respectively.
The first phase of the project, Mesaken Mesaimeer with similar housing units was unveiled during the beginning of last year.
Work on the Saliyah project was delayed, due to financial issues faced by the main contractor. Barwa then terminated the contract with the main contractor, Panceltica, and handed over the work to the sub-contractors. The company said that it had re-paid outstanding debts to the sub-contractors to avoid any further delays in completion.
The General Manager of Barwa Housing, Khalifa Al Mohannadi, said that the company had fulfilled its commitment by delivering the houses in July.
Selected tenants can now sign the contracts after taking a look at the amenities. The delivery of homes will be completed within a few months, and tenants who are out of country can occupy the houses when they are back after vacation, Al Mohannadi said. The operational partner of Barwa, Waseef, is responsible for all contracting procedures of the project, and is currently contacting the prospective tenants.
The Barwa housing project, built on Sailiyah and Mesaimeer, includes 62 residential buildings with a total of 1984 residential units. The facility is supported with playgrounds, gardens, supermarket, health clubs, swimming pools, fitness centre, and nurseries. The project also meets the highest security and safety standards, SMATV cameras installed and fire detection systems.
