Qatar to unveil its first family mall - Wathan Mall
First exclusive family mall - Wathan Mall, will be unveiled next month, a senior official of the mall confirmed.
The Assistant General Manager at the mall, Shifa Ali Mohammad, revealed that all arrangements are done already, and the Wathan Mall is in its final phase. The mall is hoped to meet the requirements of families.
Mohammad revealed that the mall took three years for completion, and has been built as per their latest engineering standards and modern art, while also maintaining the heritage and urban character of the area.
Located behind the Racing and Equestrian Club at Al Rayyan, the mall spans across 41,000 sqm, and has been named after a horse owned by the third ruler of Qatar, Sheikh Abdullah bin Jassim bin Mohammed al Thani.
The three storeyed shopping mall houses a total of 104 stores, a hypermarket, 15 restaurants, a large mosque for men and women, besides having six escalators, 16 lifts and more than 700 parking spaces. The Masskar Hypermarket will be located on the ground floor of the mall, while also housing the best brands in perfumes, jewelry, watches and garments.
Mohammad said that the mall was built, taking into account the demand for a family mall in the country. The nature of the mall is to offer hassle-free shopping and create new market segment that falls inline with religion, culture and customs.
Mohammed said that it is hoped that families would flock into the mall, given, the presence of security personnel within the mall to monitor family shopping rules, and any offenders would be taken into task and no singles will allowed entry into the mall.
The Muaither North area was chosen for construction of the giant project, as there was a need in the region for such a mall. The mall is also hoped to serve adjacent areas, and aims to contribute to development of residential and commercial properties in the area, and towards development of the region as a whole.
