The National Carrier of the Arabian Gulf State of Qatar is the Qatar Airways. Since the airline was re-launched in 1997 under the leadership of our Chief Executive Officer Mr. Akbar Al Baker it became one of the fastest growing airlines. They claim to have made 'personal attention' & quality service their trademark. As a part of their service commitment they are expanding their route network to give their customers a better choice of destination.
At the end of 2003 they were flying to 49 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, the Indian subcontinent and the Far East. By the end of 2005, they claim to expand it to at least 60 destinations.
They are also offering travelers with more flights per week to their favorite destinations in "safe, new aircraft with the latest in-flight facilities".
In June 2003, Qatar Airways signed a US$5.1 billion agreement with Airbus for an additional 34 aircraft, which will allow them to fly with a fleet of 52 Airbus aircraft by the end of 2008. In 2004, they will take delivery of 12 new Airbus aircraft.
They have also signed a US$1.2 billion deal for two A380 super jumbos which will develop into the flagships of their fleet when they are delivered in early 2009.
Qatar Airways are also making a significant venture in their hub in Doha to offer their customers fast connections to anywhere across their growing network and give the travelers an unmatched airport experience.
With Qatar growing from strength to strength, economically and as a tourist destination, Doha International Airport is increasingly becoming a valuable hub.
Qatar is building a new state of the art airport, which they believe will set a benchmark for all the future airports. Phase one of the airport will open in 2008 at the cost of US$2.5 billion. The final phase will be complete in 2015.
