Ashghal decides against recruitment of ex-government employees
Ashghal, the public works authority in Qatar, has announced its decision that it will not recruit employees who have resigned from other government departments.
The decision has been announced as a part of implementing its latest cabinet decision, which bans government employees from joining other government departments, public corporations and authorities.
The Ashghal Executive Director, Ahmed Sultan Al Kuwari, has revealed that the authority has been flooded with resignation letters from government employees, which has increased considerably.
The inconsistent payment scheme is the main factor behind this trend, and the new decision has been aimed towards solving this crisis, he added.
The increasing numbers of resignations, coupled with shortage of skilled manpower has resulted in numerous vacancies at Ashghal, and this has been affecting the optimum capability of supervising the public projects across the country, admits Al Kuwari.
In order to overcome this crisis, Ashghal has been signing contracts with special consulting offices so that major ongoing projects in the country could be supervised. These companies will supervise projects such as the Doha Highwayproject, Al Shamal and Losail Road projects. The tenders for the projects have already been finalized and successful bidders will assist Ashghal in materializing the projects.
Asghal has been allotted QR8bn in this year’s budget for development of infrastructure projects such as roads, public buildings and sanitation.
