New law on Qatarization of jobs likely
A new law pertaining to Qatarisation of jobs is underway so as to ensure permanency of positions, irrespective of the status of present incumbents, revealed Dr. Sultan bin Hasa al-Dabit al-Dowsary, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs.
Speaking to the press during the opening of an exhibition of handicrafts made by Qatari families – an initiative taken regarding the directives of Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, the minister mentioned about the new draft law on Qatarization of jobs.
Elaborating the law, the Minister said several banks and hotels have entered into agreements with the ministry for recruitment of Qatari nationals for fulfilling job requirements after undergoing adequate training and experience in respective fields.
They may be deputed on scholarships abroad to obtain university degrees. As for Qataris working in private firms, the minister said, they do not come under the job statistics as Qatarization focuses on administrative and specialized jobs.
