Ministry proposes new department for recruitment of domestic workers
The Ministry of Labour is planning to establish a new department for supervising the recruitment procedures of domestic workers, including drivers and housemaids, revealed a report in an Arabic daily.
The report states that the proposal coincides with the recent law intending to regulate the rights of domestic helpers, which is due to be released shortly.
Domestic workers are currently not under the protection of labour law in Qatar. The Law, passed by the Advisory Council on 16th June, has made Labour Ministry to be responsible for recruitment of domestic helpers, the report pointed out.
