Salary satisfaction lowest among Qatari residents

It has been learnt that only 7 percent of employees in Qatar are satisfied with their current remuneration, revealed a recent joint-survey conducted by Bayt.com, the regional job site, and researcher YouGov.

With the global economic crunch, running across Middle East, only 7% of residents in Qatar said that they are satisfied with their salary and benefits, and while 19% of residents in Qatar felt positive about their future, 18% felt quite pessimistic.

The response was the same through out the Gulf, with people expressing the same level of dissatisfaction about salary levels.

Qatar has 19% employees with salary levels of $5000 to $10,000 per month, while 7% earned over $10,000 per month. However, Bahrain and UAE had 22% and 20% of earners respectively, in the $5000-$10,000 income bracket.

When enquired about whether the average salary increases inline with average rise in cost of living, Qatari respondents mentioned that when living costs increased by 31%, average salary increase was just 15%.

The study indicates that majority of respondents only managed to save about 1% to 5% of their salary, while the rest said that they saved nothing.

The most satisfied workers were those working in the oil, gas and petrochemical sectors. The survey includes 13,881 respondents across the region, with inputs from both genders of all nationalities aged over 20 years.
