100,000 jobs available in Qatar for Filipinos

Qatar has introduced a regulation that protects Filipino workers and other expatriate workers, announced the Department of Labour and Employment yesterday.

According to the new Sponsorship Law the Ministry of Interior can permit workers who are ill-treated and abused to transfer their employers. Moreover, in case a Filipino worker files a case at the Labour Court, the employer cannot send the worker back to home country, until all pending claims have been settled.

The labour department also said that about 100,000 jobs in Qatar are available currently for overseas workers.

The government in Qatar has also announced that it would lift the ban on sending Filipino workers to Jordan and Lebanon. The move is hoped to create new placement opportunities for Filipinos.
