Qatar Career Fair witnesses high percentage of women applicants
According to data revealed from the ongoing Qatar Career Fair at the Exhibition Center, it has been revealed that the number of women applicants have outnumbered their male counterparts.
More than 60 percent of those seeking jobs are females, while only 40 percent are males. Also, there are more women applicants for the scholarship programmes than the men folk.
According to a recruitment supervisor from the HR Department at Ras Gas, the women applicants are mostly in the 18-30 age groups. The company had 700 job vacancies, out of which 240 jobs were reserved for nationals. The company is expecting 3000 job and internship applications by the end of the Career Fair.
The number of jobseekers attending the fair may be even higher today, as the fair draws to its end. Several women aspirants are seeking jobs in administration, engineering, marketing and sales and finance, while several men are aspiring for jobs in Engineering department. A small number of them are preferring positions in the financial sector, said Attalla Ersan, the Head of Training and Development, Qatar Vinyl Company Ltd.
A Kahraama official revealed that they had received about 700 applications, out of which 65 percent are from females. The fair aims to meet the applicants so that the companies can provide assistance to those fresh out of school.
The Career Fair, which drew several hundreds of Companies participation in the event, will conclude today.
