Lusail City hoped to generate 170,000 jobs
The forthcoming Lusail City, on completion, will bring with it 170,000 employment opportunities.
According to H E Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, the project is to be built on par with international standards and be completed as quickly as possible.
Work on the major QR23bn project began in December 2005 and will be completed next year. When ready, the city will cover 35 square kilometers and accommodate a population of 200,000.
The Lusail development, the biggest project of Qatari Diar in the country, will serve as an extension to Doha and will be a self-sufficient city in its own way. The whole development is likely to be completed in eight years time from the date of launch.
Lusail is segregated into seventeen districts, with each of the districts caring for specific requirements, such as the Entertainment City with two theme parks and eleven hotels, the Energy City with 82 buildings for companies in energy sector, and the like.
Lusail is ultimately aimed to house a population of more than 200,000. The entire project is developed in packages, which includes the Lusail Highway, Marina Bridges, Golf Courses, Recreational zone, seven major interchanges, islands and Lusail landscape and timely completion of projects.
