Qatar Career Fair 2010 concludes
The Qatar Career Fair 2010 held under the patronage of Heir Apparent H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, will end this afternoon. The four-day event, organized by the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, Qatar University, Qatar Petroleum and Labour Ministry, offers four days of employment opportunities to eligible candidates in the country.
Just as in the past years, Qatarization continues to remain a top priority among the participant companies.
QAPCO (Qatar Petrochemical Company), one of the sponsors for the event, re-iterated its commitment to Qatarization, and said that several of the applicants last year were employed through the fait. One of the Board Members and General Managers at Qapco, Mohamed Yousef Al-Mulla, said that the company had attainted about 70 percent Qatarization in managerial positions, while only 55 percent was noticed in technical and administrative positions.
Another spokesman for Seef Limited, a joint venture with 80 percent shares held by Qatar Petroleum and 20 percent by United Development Company, revealed that Qatarization is no-doubt the priority for the company, and that job offers would be issued to Qatari candidates with good academic qualifications and relevant professional experience.
Another company to participate in the event over the past few days was Qatar Project Management (QPM) which has already short-listed potential candidates who would soon form a part of the 13 projects carried out by the company across 7 various countries across the globe.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) is seeking qualified workforce to perform certain tasks. Its HR personnel have conveyed to the visitors of the fair about the nature of jobs available, and recruitment procedures. The Ministry has confirmed that top priority would be given for recruitment of Qatari nationals. The vacancies available are for interpreting, engineering technicians, Arab-English editing, maintenance and operation, consultants and specialists in all medical fields and more.
Karwa has also announced about 45 new vacancies, with 15 posts set aside for senior positions. Karwa is also looking to employ national skills, and is offering online recruitment services to largest number of Qataris.
One of the premier healthcare providers, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has so far received more than 350 applications at its booth in the Qatar Career Fair 2010 event. According to HMC officials, the 350 applications received during the second day of the event indicates the reputation that HMC holds as being one of Qatar’s most prestigious employers.
