Middle East employers looking to recruit freshers
About one-third or more of the employers in the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region are looking to hire fresh graduates, owing to reduced salary costs, revealed a recent survey report by Bayt.com.
The results of a survey ‘Fresh graduates in the Middle East Workforce 2010-11’, showed that a total of 13,197 respondents who were surveyed by Bayt.com, showed that about 37.6percent of respondents in their management were keen on hiring fresh graduates, following recession, while 26.4 percent said that such an inclination was less, and 19,2 percent said that things remained unchanged.
Speaking about the composition of the freshers in the workforce, about 27.7 percent of respondents said that nearly 10 percent of their workforce comprised freshers, while 14.6 percent said 10 to 20 percent of their workforce included freshers, while 12.4 percent said that about 20 to 30 percent were freshers.
Speaking about their level of recruitment during the past year, about 50 percent of the respondents said that there were about 5 percent recruitments happening in their firms, while 16.5 percent said 5 to 10 percent and 27 percent said more than 10 percent.
The participants were asked as to which department recruited majority of fresh graduates in their companies. For this, about 27.1percent said it was the marketing department, while 20.2 percent said finance and accounting, 18.4percent said IT, and 15.2percent said HR and administration, 4.7% said creative department and 14.5percent said other departments.
More than half of the employers in the survey (51.7 percent) said that less salary and benefits is the main reason behind fresher recruitment, while 10.4% said its fresh zest of life and creativity, 8.5 percent said its self-motivation and initiative, and 8.4 percent indicated it is fresh analytical thinking, and 5.1 percent said it is good communication skills.
About 50 percent of the respondents said that their companies offered guidance programmes and training to freshers after recruitment.
