Gulf jobs market see strong resurgence: Survey report

Recruitment in the professional and managerial sectors in the Gulf region is witnessing a strong resurgence, as per the quarterly survey of hiring and firing trends around the world.

As per the "Global Snapshot" report from the international recruitment firm, Antal, more than 9100 organizations have been surveyed in 52 countries on whether they were hiring and firing at professional and managerial level.

Among the nations surveyed were the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Yemen.

About 56 percent of companies in the Gulf nations surveyed agreed that they were currently hiring. This marks an increase in comparison to 48percent hiring levels during the last Snapshot poll in June.

The survey indicated that only 20percent of Gulf organizations are letting managerial staff go down from 21percent in June.

In Qatar, in particular, confidence levels are high, with 80percent of firms currently hiring and this is likely to rise further to 89 percent during the coming quarter. The hiring figures for the UAE and Saudi Arabia are 53percent and 49percent respectively, the report said.

As for the Chief Executives and HR Directors across the globe, the major business challenge is how to source the talent they would require in improving markets, rather than headcount reduction or containment. The war for talent has broken out once again, Antal report said.
