Qatar may grow to be the most favoured job destination
With the successful 2022 world cup bid, Qatar may out-beat its neighbor UAE, as the most-preferred job destination for GCC-based expatriates, reports a leading website.
At present, with 49percent of those in a survey favoured UAE as the best job destination in the region. But, Qatar was a close second with 44percent preferring to work in Qatar, according to the report by GulfTalent.com.
The UAE, however, is the most popular with 72percent of its residents having agreed about opting for UAE, given, its great infrastructure. The percentage for Qatar was 50%.
Increasing number of expatriates are now being drawn towards Qatar due to high-salary levels, better employment opportunities, improving international brand, and falling cost of living, it is said.
The GulfTalent.com website shows increased number of vacancies advertised by employers and recruitment agencies, with a good 8percent rise in GCC vacancies during 2008, to 16percent growth in vacancies during 2010.
Qatar (6.8%) and Saudi Arabia (6.7%) recorded the highest pay rises in 2010. Oman was ranked third, followed by Kuwait, the UAE and Bahrain.
The GulfTalent.com survey was held between December 2010 and January 2011, involving 32,000 professionals and 1400 companies in the six GCC states, apart from interviews with regional business leaders and human resource managers.
