Qatar employees amongst highly paid in Gulf region

Employees in Qatar are well-paid in the Gulf region, according to the latest study by Gulftalent.com, the manpower pool website.

This upward trend in salaries has made Qatar the most popular destination among professionals. Qatar has registered the highest pay rises in 2010 at 6.8percent and this is likely to grow further by 7.2percent this year, with continued demand for skills in the country.

The job opportunities in Qatar too, have grown from 8 percent in 2008, to 16 percent in 2010. The study emphasizes Qatar as a leading destination for professionals. This is largely due to fast-growing salaries, dropping living costs, growing job opportunities and improvement in international brands, and finally the country’s surprising winning bid to host the 2022 Football World Cup.

Next to Qatar in this uptrend is Saudi Arabia with 6.7percent, Oman at 6.4percent, and Kuwait at 5.7percent. UAE and Bahrain recorded the smallest pay rise at 5.2percent and 4.9percent respectively.

The pay rises were driven by the efforts made by employers to retain their top performers, increased demand for skilled workers in Qatar and Saudi Arabia, and the constant growth in Asia, one of the main sources of talent for the Gulf.

The survey further said that although UAE remains the most attractive destination for professionals (49%), Qatar remains a close second in this aspect (44%).
