Career Fair 2011 encourages Qatarisation

The Fourth edition of Annual Qatar Career Fair (QCF 2011) was launched yesterday at the Qatar Exhibition Center by the Deputy Emir and Heir Apparent, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The five-day event is jointly organized by Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, Qatar Petroleum, Qatar University and the Ministry of Labour.


The five day fair involves participation of about 130 exhibitors from energy and industry, government, business, finance, education, health and sports sectors. The fair is a good platform for young jobseekers and youth to discover a wide range of employment opportunities Qatari job market, as all these institutions assemble under a single roof.


The event will improve over the coming years, and, with several ways offered by new technology, the fair is hoped to continue even after the event is over, said Dr. Saif Al Hajri, Vice-Chairman of Qatar Foundation.


He also encouraged the firms to open up the possibility of training young professionals to improve career competencies to ensure job security. The Qatar University, for instance, puts emphasis on internship and training, so that the students gain practical experiences prior to entering the labour market in search of a job.


The Chief Operating Officer – Administration, Ghanim Al Kuwari, at Qatargas, mentioned that as a part of Qatarisation strategy, the company meets and recruits qualified nationals’ inline with the company’s commitment to ensure strong Qatari participation at all areas of the company.


Meanwhile, Qatar Shell is also along the same path, supporting the Qatarisation strategy and the country’s 2030 vision on human and economic development. The number of nationals currently working for Shell has grown ten times more than that when four years ago.


The fair offers several sessions and workshops, including Communication Skills, Development of Life Skills, Dialogue, Market, Plan for Your Career, Persuasion Skills, Mental Health of Work Environment, My First Job Day, and more.


The fair will remain open to all visitors from today till Thursday -9am to 8pm. On Wednesdays, it will be open exclusively for ladies from 9am to 3pm.
