Middle East Job Market records marked improvement

The Monster Employment Index has indicated a marked improvement of 8 percent month-over-month in the Middle East job market.

The Managing Director (India/South East Asia/Middle East), Sanjay Modi, mentioned that the latest increase in the Monster Employment Index in Gulf region was largely due to growing demand for professionals in various the customer services, legal, and banking/finance sectors.

On the other hand, there has been a considerable decline in tourism and hospitality sector, which could result in decreased tourism during summer.

The index shows that seven out of twelve industry sectors that were monitored, registered positive half-yearly growth trend in June. Advertising, Market Research, PR and Retail were amongst the fastest growing sectors over the past six months.

Real Estate, Construction and Engineering sectors too, showed positive results for the first time since March, in recruitment activity. However, production, manufacturing, automotive, ancillary and hospitality sectors saw decline in activity during the past six months.

The report, commenting on occupation trends during the past six months, said that customer service continued to be the leading occupation (up to 63 percent), followed by health care, and Sales and Business Development.

When compared to other countries in the region, the Monster findings reveal that Bahrain takes the lead marking 32 percent increase, while Egypt and Oman recorded maximum declines.
