Qatar National Day (QND) was celebrated on 18th December by nationals and expatriates in Qatar with full fervour by avoiding large gatherings and following the necessary Covid-19 preventive and precautionary measures.
To begin with, many watched the live Qatar National Day parade on Qatar Television at their homes. The National Day parade was held at the Doha Corniche to celebrate the QND, demonstrating the achievements of Qatar in various walks of life.
The first-time health workers ‘White Army’ comprises doctors, Qatar Red Crescent Society employees, nurses, and volunteers who participated in the parade, in recognition of their roles towards fighting coronavirus.
According to viewers, the participation of ‘White Army’ is one of the most amazing moments. The expats lauded Qatar and its wise leadership for adopting a unique way to appreciate the frontline health workers who risked their lives to protect people from pandemic.
Another individual said that forming words related to QND, the FIFA World Cup 2022 and health messages with human assembling was most amazing.
In the evening residents were spotted with friends and families taking rounds of Katara Cultural Village and Doha Corniche, while children were waving the national flag and enjoying the moment. The social media sites were also full with Qatar National Day greetings and clippings of celebrations.
The decision by Qatar National Day Organizing Committee to include health workers in the parade, by standing up for doctors, frontline health workers and paramedics was the most precious moment of the parade this year, said the commentators.
