Projects currently handled by Ashghal
Public Works Authority (Ashghal), has several new responsibilities and projects in hand.
One among them, is to build more playgrounds in Doha and other parts of the country, apart from the eleven playgrounds that were recently constructed.
Till date, Ashghal has built playgrounds at Old Airport, Al Assiri, Mesaimeer, Nuaija East, Aziziyya, Abu Hamour, Markhia, Duhail north and south, and Khalifa and Markhia Town north.
New play grounds are now being built along Umm Salal, Wakrah, and the work on such facilities are currently in progress in Al Thakhira, Al Khor, Gharrafa and other places.
Another task that Ashghal is currently working on, is, the work on Doha Expressway, a project that links the north and south of the country through Doha. The entire project is estimated to cost more than QR8billion. The entire project will have 13 phases. The work on four phases of the project has already commenced, namely, the February 22 Interchange and Al Amir Street (Phases I & II), D Ring-E Ring Interchange (Phase IV), and Industrial Interchange (Phase III).
The Doha Expressway is inclusive of the 3.3km long D Ring Road that links the Airport Intersection with Khalifa Al Attiyah Intersection.
This mega project is being carried out by constructing a three-lane dual carriageway, two multi-level interchanges, and service roads on both sides, in addition to the development of landscaping work and network infrastructure.
