Qatar construction sector focuses on innovative Green technologies

According to studies carried out by Business Monitor, the construction sector in Qatar is all set to touch QR33bn (USD9.06billion) by the year 2012, and more than 800 new towers are likely to adorn Doha skyline in the next ten years. The Qatari construction market has been identified as one of the busiest in the world.

In view of this, Autodesk, the pioneer in 2D and 3D design software for the manufacturing building, media and entertainment markets, has named ProMedia as its value added seller in Qatar. Currently ProMedia is taking up severe measures to market Autodesk solutions amidst the booming construction sector in the country.

With the Qatari government making efforts to strengthen its sustainable initiatives in the construction sector, the Autodesk and ProMedia are all set to highlight outstanding features of the new Autodesk Revit Solutions and AutoCAD 2009 software to both government agencies and private developers.

The Revit solutions, which are designed for Building Information Modeling (BIM), comprise Revit Architecture, Revit MEP and Revit Structure, which enables analysis and testing of new and better materials, while also decreasing waste production. AutoCAD2009, on the other hand, helps in better efficiency and productivity, and allows new users to yield fruitful results at a quicker pace.

The massive oil and gas reserves in Qatar act as main catalyst behind the growth of its most vital industries, such as the real estate. The country has been witnessing excellent growth in its GDP (gross domestic product), which is likely to touch 13.5 percent in 2009.

Major large-scale investments are being channelized towards high-profile real estate development to create high demand. Local and foreign developers are seeking solutions that enhance the productivity and efficiency of Architects and Structural Engineers, thereby balancing the major demand for residential and commercial projects.

The Business Development Manager of ProMedia, Nidhin Raj, said “With the huge demand for built space and the increasing prominence given for implementation of green technologies, speaking from a technological point of view, we intend to provide state-of-the-art design solutions and innovative technologies that cater to customers needs. We are planning a fresh approach for construction sector in Qatar, and hope that our partnership with Autodesk will yield favorable results.”
