Qatari Diar Lusail development, on its way ahead
Biggest project of Qatari Diar in the country, the Lusail development, has completed the conception stage, and has transformed to outlining of upcoming districts. The basic infrastructure at Lusail, including the roads and underground train network is likely to be completed within three years.
Lusail development has been designed to serve as an extension to Doha and is its own self-sufficient city too. The entire development is likely to be complete within next eight years.
The development is organized into seventeen districts, with each taking care of specific requirements such as the Entertainment City, which includes two theme parks and 11 hotels, the Energy city which include 82 buildings for companies in the energy sector, and the like.
Being a mixed-use residential, business and leisure project, Lusail will house a population of more than 200,000. The project is being developed in packages, including the Lusail highway, the golf courses, marina bridges, recreational zone, seven major interchanges, the islands and the Lusail landscape, to facilitate timely completion.
The district, a mixed-use residential and commercial area will feature high-end homes, retail shops, and hotels, housing nearly 27000 people, while providing employment to 45,000.
The Marina District, stretching 2.5km in length, was the first Lusail development to go on sale, and was sold within days of launch.
Lusail will own a marina with a berth capacity of 1,000 to its credit. All the three marinas in Lusail, together, would make the biggest marina in the entire GCC, with a capacity for over 1400 boats.
Another noteworthy aspect of Lusail is the Entertainment District, comprising 11 hotels, two theme parks, and shopping centers. The district also includes two beaches that are easily connected by water and road to the rest of Lusail.
The Fox Hills Lusail, which covers 1.6 square kilometers, will be divided into the northern and southern zones, and will contain a total of 370 plots with a capacity to house a population of 39,000 in its medium rise four and five storey buildings. While the northern area is divided into consolidated zones and handed over to developers, the southern area is sold as individual plots.
The golf course and waterfront view of Lusail will be its centerpiece, and will combine residential, commercial and civic amenities. Other districts likely to come up in Lusail are the commercial waterfront, shops, restaurants, upscale residential area at the Residential Waterfront District and the Lusail Towers. Also, plans are on to establish about 22 schools in Lusail (both government and private).
