Barwa to continue accepting housing applications from nationals
Barwa has announced that it will continue accepting housing applications, but only from Qatari nationals.
The Barwa Deputy CEO, Youssef Al Horr, said that one of the reasons behind such a decision is that quite a few Qatari nationals are not aware about the housing programme initiated by Barwa, and also because most Qatari applicants were not able to meet the terms and conditions put forward by Barwa during selection process for the housing programme.
Hence the number of Qatari nationals who should have benefited from the programme has been lower than the targeted numbers, Horr revealed.
He continued that, out of about 634 Qatari applicants, applications of 122 middle-income Qatari families were approved. There are 1984 flats awaiting allocation.
Barwa had set up specific criteria and standards to be followed prior to approval. The residents who have already applied for the accommodations will have to wait, as their applications are under processing, as Barwa received large number of applications, although most of these were accompanied by incomplete documents.
The final reminder will be announced through the media soon, requesting applicants to complete the required documents, else their applications are likely to be cancelled, Horr concluded.
